Lots of #ArchiveAdvice for #Archive30 but this year ours is DON’T WEAR WHITE. Archives can be dirty and dusty however hard we try - and red rot can leave interesting stripes… Remember, we get dirtier than everyone else when we clean the collection!

#ArchiveAdvice Metal rusts; rubber bands harden & adhere to paper. Tape yellows and may or may not fall off. All of these things will stain your documents and photos. Use a folder or folded paper to hold things together. And if you can't easily undo it, don't do it! #Archive30

#Archives30 Whilst #archiveadvice at one time would have included not smoking in the strongrooms (we had one Archivist who smoked a pipe...), today our advice would be to WASH YOUR HANDS! - good health sense and good for the documents to have clean hands when using them.
