'Tal vez algún día no me encoja de dolor
al ver expirar el año moribundo,
y logre escuchar los villancicos de nuevo,
aunque tú no puedas oírlos'.

Exactly 100 years ago today on the 24th November 1918 the ships of the German High Seas Fleet began arriving in Scapa Flow for internment while their fate was decided by the Allies. Many of them are still there a century later.

For #armistice100 the archives of Teddy Cutt of Shalford, a private in the East Surrey Regt 9th Bn, are even more poignant. Killed in 1915 aged just 18, his story is told by an extraordinary collection of papers kept by his fiancée, Ellen (Nellie) Dabbs. #archiveanniversaries 1/2

The German Ambassador and I laid wreaths together, along with our defence attachés, to commemorate the final military action of WW1 here in Mbala, in memory of those local men and those others from many nations who gave their lives. We will remember them. #Armistice100 Department for Culture, Media and Sport
'Originally known as Peace Babies, Jelly Babies were launched in 1918 to celebrate the end of WW1.' #Armistice100
We are really grateful to The Hawick Paper for including a 2-page spread on our memorial unveiling in their marvellous #Armistice100 commemorative edition. Incredible how Jason & the team created the whole pull-out in just a few days! Thanks as always for the continued support!
Proud of O NGHS Junior School as she receives a reply from The Prince and Princess of Wales in recognition of her #empathy and on-going fund-raising efforts linked to #armistice100 competition 👌
We've seen lots of floral tributes over #Armistice100 and nice to see someone from the village has placed flowers on the small Commonwealth War Graves #WW2 plot in Malleville-les-Gres Churchyard.
