Let me tell you, scything isn't easy. We only did a 'taster' with teacher Phillip, PK and Michael at BuglifeNI BioBlitz. We'll learn and bring this practice to Botanic Meadow soon.

Weather meant inverts hidden amongst the vegetation. From Parent Bugs (Elasmucha grisea) to sawflies (Dolerus sp.).

🌧️ weather made surveying questionable for the insect walk & talk today at Murlough BuglifeNI National Trust NI but great group of people showed up.

A few select insects; Cinnabar caterpillar, Common Footman, Vapourer/Rusty Tussock caterpillar & Diplolepsis sp. wasp galls

BAS Joshua Clarke 🌿 BuglifeNI Ulster Wildlife Found this with a bit of Googling! It was definitely darker than many of the images I’ve seen. Maybe an adaptation to the bare peat!
