Summary #CITESCoP19 for #elephants : Opposing motions (1) to allow new ivory trade and (2) for strict protection of all elephant populations (all populations on Appendix I) failed the required two-thirds majority. Authoritative votes came from EU. (1/4).
#CITESCoP19 decided to further review the pilot World Wildlife Trade Report to assess if such a report should be prepared regularly to better inform Parties in their implementation of the Convention.
Emotions were high as our international crew alongside the HSI Global team of experts responded to the #GlassFrogs proposal being adopted by consensus last Wednesday at #CITESCOP19 . This was joy years in the making as reflected on the many faces.
