What an honour to be in Samarkand for #CMSCOP14

This was the first COP to be held in Central Asia, a region that is highly vulnerable to climate change.

Yet Central Asian countries are leaning in, taking action to protect migratory species & address our triple planetary crisis.

I can't believe we actually did it. 14 Species included in Apppendices, and hot topics like deep sea bed mining giving great lessons on diplomacy. I will forever remember #CMSCOP14 and the happiness of cheering for agreements reached by Latin America from the podium 🐋🇺🇳🌊💙🐆

Migratory species are essential to healthy ecosystems.

Yet, they are facing threats such as overexploitation, habitat loss & fragmentation, pollution & climate change.

More on the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) ahead of next week’s #CMSCOP14 . cms.int/cop14

The first-ever State of the World’s Migratory Species Report found nearly half (44%) of CMS-listed migratory species are showing population declines.

Data from the IUCN Red List was instrumental in informing the conclusions of the report.
