Tackling illicit #SALW is one of the most critical tools to torrefy #CRSV .

I urge the women & peace & security experts to engage & collaborate closely in the Review Conference in June to advance gender-responsive arms control.

#CRSV is not an inevitable consequence of conflict.

During the #UN Security Council 🇺🇳 debate on conflict-related sexual violence organized by 🇲🇹, Cyprus 🇨🇾 strongly condemned gender-based violence in all its forms & manifestations, #online and #offline , including all acts of sexual violence during armed conflicts.

3,688 cases of CRSV committed in 2023.

95% of the cases are against women and girls.

4% of the cases are against men and boys.
 
The reported cases are only the tip of the iceberg as #CRSV continues to be a vastly under-reported crime.

🤝Identities/inequalities such as race, gender & sexual orientation shape the unique experiences & recovery paths of #CRSV survivors. Survivor-centred approaches cannot but be #intersectional if they claim to be safe, adequate, competent and transformative.
