Tomorrow's Giro stage 2 ends at the lovely Santuario di Oropa. I cycled to it and stayed a night there in 2014. Lovely climb. Lovely Santuario. But read the second tweet for a great cycling tip.

The Giro d'Italia stage one ended in Torino today. FYI, Torino is a super fun city to visit and tour on a bike. The city has so many beautiful and HUGE car-free squares that makes having a bike extra fun. My wife ... a few years ago.

Today's Giro stage finishes at the Santuario di Oropa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's the largest sanctuary dedicated to the Virgin Mary in the Alps. I'm not saying that its fountain has magic 'waters' but here's what I drank when I visited. #GirodItalia

2/ From the Upper Basilica there is a wonderful little cliff road that climbs up the side of the mountain to a tunnel (Galleria Rosazza). It was signed impassable (due to snow) but I made it to and somehow through the summit tunnel.

Dione Tunnels can be scary and I am a coward, but I have 'managed' to cycle through some fun ones. :-)

Dione I am certain that I must have suggested for your next visit the old cliff road that bypasses that long Gavia tunnel. So much more fun .... and possible on a road bike if you go slowly. Starts exactly at tunnel entrance.
