Remember, your EHIC remains valid in the EU, but you should replace it with a GHIC when it expires.

It is not a replacement for travel insurance, you will also need that too.

The UK GHIC (replaced the EHIC for the majority of people since Brexit) is not as good as the EHIC we used to enjoy as an EU member because it covers fewer countries.

Even the Tories admit it in a note buried deep on the government website...

Is your EHIC or GHIC card valid?

It can grant you access to necessary state healthcare in the EU and some other countries.

Remember though, it is not a replacement for private travel insurance – you'll need that too.
