It was a pleasure to be part of the #EWiPA conference in Oslo.
It is vital for all of us to remember that protecting civilians from the the impact of the use explosive weapons in populated areas is an obligation that cannot and should not be ignored.

HI is organizing a workshop today in Oslo on the concretization of the commitments of the political declaration on #EWIPA related to humanitarian assistance and access, focusing on healthcare needs. These commitments need to make a difference to civilians in armed conflicts.

Yesterday, at the #EWIPA Oslo Conference, Ms. Mélanie Régimbal delivered a statement on behalf of 10 UN entities.

She reiterated the commitment of the UN system to support the EWIPA process going forward.

The widespread use of heavy #explosiveweapons since the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine is alarming.

More than 31,000 civilians have been killed or injured over the past 2 years, most of them due to the use of explosive weapons in populated areas.
