After Tuesday night’s appearance on BBC The View I thought I would share a personal letter I wrote to Ken Maginnis after his untimely departure from the UUP in 2012.

It relates back to Good Friday 1998 and I meant every word of it.

I can remember the bombs exploding a hundred metres from my house or being evacuated from shopping centres, running fearing the worst.
Northern Ireland has changed so much over these 20 years.
We owe so much to those who dedicated so much to bring about peace. Thank you.

Twenty years on from the Good Friday Agreement, we remember the undauntable, inspirational Mo Mowlam. Those who lived though the terrible years of the Troubles understand the debt we owe her

Good turnout for “20 Years On - Defending the Good Friday Agreement” Panel Discussion in Westminster - the Good Friday Agreement remains the bedrock for any future agreement & for any progress. It needs to be unconditionally embraced by all political parties.

The departing words of Sen. Mitchell: 'The most important thing in conflict resolution is what is in the hearts and minds of people.... especially young people. Keep fighting for peace.'

20 years ago today, the Good Friday Agreement was signed. This image captures the happy Northern Ireland Secretary of State, Mo Mowlam on that historic evening of April 10 1998.
