Today marks one year since #HurricaneIan destroyed my little beach town of Fort Myers. I’ve witnessed incredible acts of humanity, heartbreak, government inaction and heroics, corporate greed, hopelessness…
It’s been a long, trying year but I’m grateful.
Today is the anniversary of #HurricaneIan that decimated Ft Myers Beach & killed my father. 💔
His official date of death isn't for another 107 days when his boat & body were finally found submerged.
I miss him so much, & I'm grateful for all who looked for him. 🫶

Hurricane Ian was the costliest storm in FL history. Produced 15 ft of surge and 20”+ of rain… a 1-in-1000 year event. Turns out a new study says the rain from #HurricaneIan was made nearly 20% wetter due to manmade climate amplification. Study below…

One of those iPhone memory videos that get generated automatically.
One year later, we still remember the love and support we received from so many on and following September 28.
To the entire community of Southwest Florida, thank you ❤️
We're stronger together.

#OTD last year, #HurricaneIan rapidly intensified into a Category 5 #hurricane , reaching a peak intensity of 160mph/937mb. It weakened slightly to a high-end Cat 4 just before making landfall in southwest #Florida later that day.

As we reflect on the 1-year anniversary of #HurricaneIan I want to emphasize the progress we’ve made - we rebuilt homes, built bridges, repaired infrastructure and most importantly, restored hope.
Thank you for inviting me back to commemorate & celebrate the resiliency of SWFL.
