An embassy was sent by Kushan king Vima Kadphises to Rome in 99 AD.

The embassy congratulated Emperor Trajan, who has just got the throne.

There was extensive trade relations between Rome & Kushans via the silk route.

Kushans also used the title of 'Caesar'.

Kaundinya (1st century CE), was a Brahmin prince who was exiled from his kingdom in India.

He reached Cambodia, & after many adventures, married Queen Soma of Funan.

They founded Kingdom of Funan with their capital at Vyadhapura (Ba- Phnum District, Cambodia).

Queen 'Heo-Hwang-ok' or Suriratna was a princess from 'Ayuta' or Ayodhya, who came via sea to Korea, & married King Suro of Geumgwan Gaya (c.100 AD)

6 million koreans trace their lineage to this Queen from India, & her memorial is at Ayodhya & Korea.

An unnamed Brahmin was sent as an emissary by Emperor Harsha to the court of Taizong of Tang in c. 643 AD.

The emissary was successful in upgrading Indo-China relations, and Emperor Taizong sent his own ambassadors, who accompanied the Brahmin back to Kannauj.

Vijaya of Bengal (c.500 BCE?) was a prince, who colonized Sri Lanka & gave to the island the name of 'Sinhala' after that of his dynasty.

This event is considered to be the starting point of Sinhalese history.

Kāsyapa Mātanga & Dharmaratna (c.70 AD) were two Hindu monks, who went to China with a delegation of 18 persons sent by Emperor Ming of Han (58-75 AD).

The Indian scholar & his associate translated 'Sutra of 42 Chapters' & 5 other Sanskrit works in to Chinese.

Prabhakarmitra & Atigupta were two Buddhist monks who came to China in 7th century.

Prabhakarmitra was from central India & translated some Buddhist works. He died aged 69 in 633 AD.

Atigupta came to China in 652 AD & translated “Dhārani-Samagraha-Sūtra”.

Zarmanochegas was a 'sramana' from Bharuch who went to Greece in 1st century BCE.

As per Strabo & Dio Cassius he burnt himself to death at Athens in 19 BCE

His tomb was known till c.120 AD & had the following inscription:

'Zarmanochegas, Indian from Bargosa'
