K-2 is close to my heart and I am planning to start a clean up campaign from June-Aug 2023, from all garbage & old ropes accumulated over the period of history. All stakeholders are requested to play their part. You can simply help by starting a hashtag and retweet #KeepK2Clean
If you can #summit the highest #mountains , you can also make an effort to keep them #clean . Keep #nature free of #trash . Heaps of trash is not what #K2 needs. There is a dire need to train the #climbers on responsible summits #KeepK2Clean

Mountaineers declared K2 as a dirty peak due to negligence of authorities. Thousands of tons of garbage at base camp poses serious threats to visitors health and also to environment. Thousands of dollars are collected from these visitors in lieu of fees.

We request auth & Government of Pakistan Government of Gilgit-Baltistan Office of the Chief Secretary, Gilgit Baltistan for immediate efforts for most fragile mountain glaciers & Eco System and ban all types of commerical expeditions which offers clients summit at all cost with dozens of oxygen, Sherpa support & fixed ropes .
