It was 14 years later, after the death of Sage Kinvig, that Ned became the only remaining native speaker of Manx.

Before his death, Ned became known for his willingness to teach Manx to people such as Brian Mac Stoyll, one of the primary promoters of the Manx revival.

Nigel Kneale tries his hand at sitcom on this day in 1981 with Kinvig which stars Prunella Gee & Tony Haygarth.

Finally ticked KINVIG off the #NigelKneale watchlist.
And it was... bonkers, but still often funny. There was definitely a good story hiding inside it, but I reckon a different format to *hilarious* sitcom would’ve been better.

Looks Unfamiliar Kinvig

Sage Kinvig, one of the last surviving native speakers of the Manx language at the time of her death, reading from the Manx Bible aged 88, 1959. Manx has undergone a revival since her death, partly due to the support that she and others gave to younger learners of the language.
