The #MandelaRules are based on an obligation to treat all prisoners with respect for their inherent dignity and value as human beings, and to prohibit torture and other forms of ill-treatment. Locking men up with women breaches those rules.
At UN Office on Drugs & Crime-APCA's consultation on health rights in prisons, our Criminal Justice Expert Seema Joshi shared insights on prison reforms in line with #MandelaRules . 'Prison health is the State’s responsibility,' she said, highlighting the provisions in the Standard Minimum Rules.
