The great Manx poet T. E. Brown was born in May 1830. A lovely 1915 entry in this Dhoor School logbook tells us that the children marked the anniversary with songs and recitations, and that the Manx Society presented a copy of ‘Tom Brown’s’ works to the school.

Here's the newly-constructed Block Eary Reservoir in July 1943. The photo comes from Water Authority records (1933-2012) recently accessioned by our Archivist Rachel. The reservoir waters now help to generate hydroelectric power.

Captured at a trade fair in the old Castle Mona Hotel, Douglas, : A fine display of Manx cheeses, rock, pickles, and beer. Does anyone else suddenly have the urge for a picnic?

We love these drawings of two dapper gents and a schoolboy on Peel Breakwater. They're from our Infrastructure records and appear to suggest proposed railings. We're not sure how safe these fishing positions would be in the event of a lively opponent!

Ring pulls through the ages, anyone? Mind you, in the Isle of Man, you might be one of the lucky whose hobby leads to the discovery of Viking treasure. (Note the older spelling of Santon, the Island's smallest parish).
