Do you know why they call it the 'sella turica'? Although technically speaking the term 'sella turcica' refers to the floor of the pituitary fossa, it is often used as a synonym for the pituitary fossa.

15 Yr old boy was referred for CT Brain from Nephrology department in view of recent onset(4 days) holocranial headache.
Why did I want to connect with the referring physician immediately after seeing these ?

Cavernous Sinus Anatomy - still working on that presentation on pituitary anatomy, this time a drawing of the pituitary in the coronal plane with emphasis on cavernous sinus anatomy, not my best one, but still working on it.

My hope is that reading a facial trauma CT will be less daunting and your reports will be surgically relevant after listening to this talk. Register ahead for a start time of 7 am CST.

Difference b/w SAH (left): preserved gray-white differentiation. No ventricular/sulcal effacement

Pseudo-SAH (R): typically seen in diffuse cerebral edema/hypoxic ischemic injury caused by hyperdensity of arteries/veins relative to the low attenuation of brain

🧠Similar controversial case of acute spinal cord infarct in a young patient

All the workups for the underlying etiology were negative

In a young patient with no risk factors, rare possibility of fibrocartilaginous emboli can be considered. Though cannot be proved

Excited to share our latest work using synthetic image generation for common targeting sequences! From a single MP2RAGE acquisition, we can create T1, FGATIR, EDGE, GM nulled, etc. & also optimize image contrast.

Cerebral edema goes beyond just cytotoxic and vasogenic, and an understanding of the different types of brain edema can lead to recognizable phenotypes and distinct topographical patterns that may aid in diagnosis.
