kathaRiNA Höfer is interested in the cellular functions of NAD-RNAs. These could be used as substrate by T4-encoded ModB for a novel post-translational modification: RNAylation.
ModB inactivation impairs T4 fitness, hinting that it is a central regulator of phage infection.

Idea: Does RNAylation by T4 phage ModB at S1 prevent ribosome dimerization (100S ribosomes) so that the cell does not ‘sleep’ during T4 infection? S1 has been shown to be important in 100S ribosomes so RNAylation would prevent its role in ribosome inactivation.
