kathaRiNA Höfer and her #phagebusters
introduced a new post-translational modification - RNAylation to the audience of the #2ndGPS
Thank you Katharina kathaRiNA Höfer for an inspiring talk early in the morning session. Signaling has many facets - RNAylation is an exciting new PTM!
Excellent talk about RNAylation by kathaRiNA Höfer at #EMBOnoncodingRNA in #Poznan today. Great session chaired by Gabriella Costabile and organized by buszczynska Katarzyna Solka Rory Johnson GOLD Lab
Online now - the Spotlight 'The ART of #RNAylation : Covalent RNA-protein Linkage in Bacteriophage Infection' from Lena Steckelberg and colleagues.

Excited to share that we received an
European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant to fund our research on #RNAylation ! A huge THANK YOU to my amazing and extremely creative team and colleagues Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology for the last 3 y and this amazing present👇! My bike rides will not be the same anymore!

Idea: Does RNAylation by T4 phage ModB at S1 prevent ribosome dimerization (100S ribosomes) so that the cell does not ‘sleep’ during T4 infection? S1 has been shown to be important in 100S ribosomes so RNAylation would prevent its role in ribosome inactivation.
Today I had the great opportunity to share our recently discovered RNAylation-mechanisms with RNA-enthusiasts at the #RNA2023 in Singapore! Looking forward to a great conference! 📣What a great opportunity! Katharina Höfer Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology will talk about 'The best of two worlds: RNAylation covalently links RNA to proteins'.
Don't miss this!🤗

It was fun to write this short perspective with Sophie Korn on the discovery of protein RNAylation by kathaRiNA Höfer and team. Bacteriophages are a treasure trove of cool biology 😎
