Carina Mia Wong & Alex Simmons’ LARP-camp documentary WE CAN BE HEROES is funny and sweet. It is surprising how much these teenagers open themselves up in front of the camera. Some of them are more insightful and in touch with their emotions than many grownups I know.

Agnieszka Holland’s masterful directing is on full display throughout GREEN BORDER, screening at SIFF tonight. It is disturbing and infuriating because what we see on the screen is still happening today. One of her best films and one that everyone needs to watch.
