Tremendous thanks to John Lai for having me at the Sanibel & Captiva Annual Meeting 2024 Luncheon on behalf of Jimmy Patronis!
It is wonderful to see businesses and residents returning to Sanibel island every day, revitalizing the local economy in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.
In this country, some just talk the talk. Well, welcome to Florida, where Ron DeSantis walks the damn walk. Hurricane Ian severed Sanibel’s only causeway in three spots. Today, days later, trucks rolled in over the restored bridge to repair the Island. #FloridaStrong
Today we landed twice World Central Kitchen second day in a row in Pine And Sanibel Island with water, sandwiches, fruit and Rice and chicken reaching everyone with food in places with no electricity and destroyed bridges. More than 60k meals with many kitchens all across! #ChefsForFlorida
PhotographicFloridian I felt that way about the Sanibel bridge when it was a drawbridge and also the swing bridge to FMB. Just came across a pic of the Sanibel bridge when it was opened for our boat to pass thru. Sadly none of the other. Make me feel quite old but I know the feelijng.
4th day delivering to Sanibel Island as well as Pine Island etc. World Central Kitchen also in Fort Myers and from Tampa to Naples covering a lot of ground. 2 WCK, many Resturant partners, Food trucks, and army of great people and tens of thousands of meals a day! #ChefsForFlorida a
It’s #EndangeredSpeciesDay , and we’re shining a light on the federally endangered #leatherback sea turtle (Dermochelys coriacea).🐢
Leatherbacks are the largest turtle on Earth and one of 4 sea turtle species that nest on #Sanibel & #Captiva .

Absolutely amazing to see emergency vehicles full of resources crossing the newly repaired #Sanibel Causeway today. Kudos to Ron DeSantis, Kevin Guthrie, and Jared W. Perdue, P.E. and everyone involved in making this a reality just weeks after Hurricane #Ian .
