His name was Connor Sparrowhawk, he loved London Buses, mermaids and his family, and he had good ideas about his future… I really would have loved to have met you, Connor. But I also guess I did, in some weird and magical way - in the darkness. Strange… Wonderful… Cool.

These siskins were perched and enjoying some food provided by our colleague Becky, when a sparrowhawk swooped down to ambush them. It's not uncommon for these birds of prey to visit gardens, as they favour small birds such as finches and sparrows.

This male sparrowhawk came in because he was found upside down by the side of a road. Believed to have been a road traffic accident. He has finished the quarantine period and is now in our outside aviary getting re accustomed to outdoors before he is released. #bird #bird ofprey
