Celebrating the World Fisheries Day.

Fisheries is among 3 most important sectors in 🇹🇿 with over 4.5 million people employed in the sector (6.89% of total population) engaging at different points on the fisheries value chain.

Today, PECH Committee Press approved the results of the trilogue on the future 🇪🇺 Fisheries #Control Regulation. Here are 5⃣ reasons why this is an important step for #sustainablefisheries . The messy hair and 🇧🇪 accent are offered free of charge.

.European Fisheries Control Agency recently published their programme of work, in support of implementation of the #CFP and #SustainableFisheries . Notable achievements in this space last year included the EU’s Action Plan; adoption of the High Seas Treaty; & agreement on fisheries subsidies.

🌍🎣 Yesterday marked a key step towards #SustainableFisheries in #Madagascar . The Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy and WWF signed an agreement for the sharing and use of fisheries data, which will bolster a data-driven approach to future management decisions.

According to the FAO, Ghana’s fisheries contributes 4.5% to GDP and indirectly supports the livelihood of about 10% of the people of Ghana.
