Is it reasonable to say the refusal to separate vouchers from any funding for or school safety is primarily the decision of the Texas Senate? Just trying to square this all away when it is time for me to vote in March primaries

A school district doesn’t even need a reason to non renew a teacher. So when I see people on Twitter talking about “unions” in Texas I laugh at their stupidity. When I see a politician saying it I get pissed because they know better and are lying to the people.

I am confused? Why fund the Teacher Vacancy Task Force and listen to NONE of what was suggested? I have stayed quiet long enough— I am frontline to Texas Public Education. Our future deserves better.

People with no clue talk about teacher unions & associations in Tx. Unions are not an issue not happening in most places outside of large urbans and is a choice. Most join because it is a cheap way to get liability insurance- period. Do not negotiate and do not cost districts $.

Last night, Senate blocked an amendment by José Menéndez that would’ve increased state funding for school safety by $500 million. It was too much $.

1 HOUR LATER, they released a new version of a school funding bill that has a $500 MILLION VOUCHER attached.

If the voucher movement isn’t about $, why do their peddlers fight so hard to keep from being fully funded? If it isn’t about $ why are they proposing a rate $2k higher? If it isn’t about $ why (besides text scores) is that all they seem to talk about?

Why do teachers keep voting against their own interests? Their students interests? Do they not vote or do they vote for the people who will never give them their worth? Vote Blue if their is any chance of helping public education

Regardless of whether Gov. Greg Abbott praises (he should) or despises (he should NOT) public school teachers, the fact is TX State Constitution requires the state legislature support local public schools. Anything otherwise (defunding/vouchers) is a dereliction of duty!

Can’t help but notice -

teacher pay, full funding 4 school safety, & increasing the Basic Allotment are NOT on the list for 1st special session.

Is it bc these aren’t of concern to Texans or legislators? Were calls to ⬆️ teacher pay just campaign talk? Or…

In the final days of the regular legislative session, I spoke with teachers in the Austin area. Many are largely frustrated with the results of the session. They hoped for more funding, but many felt like their voices weren't heard. statesman.com/story/news/edu…

Think about this next time Gov. Greg Abbott offers any praise for Texas public school teachers...

Consider your most stressful day/week as a public school educator, then reflect on the following:

(1) Texas public school employees are tired, burned out, underappreciated, and many work…

Inside the reason why School vouchers are a thing. ⁦Greg Abbott⁩ you are playing on “freedom” to launder tax dollars to private education companies who are not even from Texas. I am an Army Veteran. I am a 10 year educator. You lost my vote. texasmonthly.com/news-politics/…

is it because a certain someone wants vouchers so badly that teacher pay will be held hostage AGAIN during a special session *in the fall* when teachers are back in the classroom and too busy to spend time in Austin?

Teachers, parents, & Texans all across the state have stated that they do NOT want vouchers - not in SB 8, HB 100, or any form. We need to invest in public schools, and not divert public money to vouchers that divide and discriminate.
