As a kid, I'd beg him to tell me stories about the war, but he'd always change the subject. When I returned from the Falklands war, he shook my hand, smiled, and said, 'Now you'll understand.' I didn't, but I do now. My proudest possessions are his medals. I miss him. #VEday 🇬🇧

An estimated 130,000 🇮🇪 Irishmen contributed to that victory, with an estimated 7,500 that did not return to this island.
