The #vetoinitiative reorients the relationship between the UNSC & the UNGA. It reinforces the GA’s role as the backstop for peace & security.

However, we can’t allow millions to die waiting for the Council to embrace the changes that will restore confidence in its decisions

Following #Russia 's #veto of the #UNSC draft resolution condemning its unlawful #annexation of four regions of #Ukraine , the new #UNGA procedure calls for a meeting within 10 days to scrutinise the veto vote. So far the #VetoInitiative has not deterred the use of veto.
