Inspiring to see young human rights defenders coming together at #UNVienna to take action & discuss important human rights issues. Hosted by MFA Austria for #Vienna30 , they heard from Mary Lawlor UN Special Rapporteur HRDs, UN Human Rights Chief Volker Türk and met Austrian President A. Van der Bellen.

I met Austrian President A. Van der Bellen for the #Vienna30 youth event, and I expressed my grave #HumanRights concerns over TotalEnergies EACOP pipeline in Uganda and Tanzania.

It is displacing over 100.000 citizens and putting water for 40 million people at risk.

Thirty years ago, the #Vienna30 Declaration noted that all human rights are universal, indivisible & interdependent. That's why we can't make deals with dictators. As we have seen, the leap from terrorizing one's own people to threatening global security is alarmingly short.
