At E.K. Powe Elementary School we celebrated #WalkRollToSchoolDay today with a group of walkers and a #BikeBus . A happy coincidence for the #WeekWithoutDriving .
Thanks to Bike Durham, Durham Fire Department, and Durham Public Schools for support and to Durham Transportation Department for recent improvements on Ninth St!
On my way this morning to the groundbreaking of the MLK Way Safety project. This corridor was sited for improvements in 2015, with several delays over the past 8 years.
MLK Way south of I-90 has had 67 collisions this year. 91 last year.

Happy to Sacramento Regional Transit for free on #CleanAirDayCA . Its been a fun #weekwithoutdriving so far too! Its amazing how much more there is to appreciate about Sacramento as a cyclist, pedestrian, and transit rider.
🎉🎉🎉 To just about no one’s surprise the absolute hustle of William Masse 🤷♂️ has smashed the competition (👀 Rachel Peterson) and won him the #weekwithoutdriving Cleverhood prize pack 👏👏👏
Is anyone in #Worcester organizing for #WeekWithoutDriving ?

I was a #CheaterCheaterPumpkinEater today for #WeekWithoutDriving . My rescue pup’s training class was tonight, and though I COULD walk ~25 mins or bus, a long walk or bus wait alone in the dark was not a risk I was willing to take. (🧵1/2)
Short errand in Parkland, so I rode my bike. Sunny day, some traffic and while there were not formal bike lanes, in some places the paved right-of-way was wide enough and clear to ride in, but not the whole way. #WeekWithoutDriving
Just surpassed 3,000 miles of 🚲 commuting this year, and it’s not been easy. #WeekWithoutDriving exposing the need for colossal shift in infrastructure investment for people to traverse this city safely without a car. Way too many obstacles for vast majority of public.
A little wetter than usual but otherwise my #WeekWithoutDriving is very similar to my last 3 years of commute/school drives. I can’t believe few years ago I was afraid to bike in the rain, it’s actually not bad at all with the right gear.
In honor of #weekwithoutdriving , here is a *very* partial inventory of blocked/missing/generally busted sidewalks I encountered on a single ten minute walk to the coffee shop.
This morning I drove to Research Triangle Park. There are short rec trails on campuses, but no network of sidewalks or bike paths. See this juxtaposition of road signs on TW Alexander: Adopt a Highway, Share the Road, Speed Limit 55MPH (knocked over). #WeekWithoutDriving
Most weeks are #weekwithoutdriving for me but today was very multimodal as I got to ride the Sammamish River Trail on way to a meeting! Glad to see many elected officials enjoying their weeks and exploring multiple modes of travel, including cheaper and nonpolluting ones.
Coolest thing about #WeekWithoutDriving : my dad, a power 👨🦼 user, has been inspired to write to the city about his own challenges with missing curb cuts & uneven sidewalk. I’ve sent in stuff on the city’s form (bothellwa.gov/FormCenter/Cit…) for him before but his self advocacy is now
