International Beaver Day was founded to honor the work of Dorothy Burney Richards in founding one of the first beaver sanctuaries in the United States. I had so much fun researching her life and telling her story in Beaverland.

🚨MAJOR ARREST: An arrest has been made in connection to shots fired at officers on the city's west side on Saturday, Feb. 25, in the area of Puritan and Beaverland.

A wonderful time at the South Street Seaport on Saturday. Gave my talk a few blocks from where John Jacob Astor would have made his start trading beaver pelts. Beaverland's editor came to hear my talk which was so great and we took fun pictures. Home to daffodils!

In Beaverland I wrote about the 18th-century Mexican Jesuit humanist, Rafael Landivar, who believed that beavers could make us better humans! I think he was onto something. April is National Poetry Month – enjoy re-discovering those poems you have always loved reading.
