We have established a new apiary at Harper Adams University to further enhance our existing Entomology @ Harper Adams University facilities!

This will provide opportunities for research across the entire university, from vets to food scientists and everything in between. It will also act as a teaching

German Cockroaches are definitely not native to Germany, despite the name. Here's the entomology (pun intended) behind the name:
First Description: The culprit behind the name is the scientist who first classified them, Carl Linnaeus, in the late 18th century.

Orthoptera people, have you ever seen anything like this? The male subgenital plate of this cave cricket (Rhaphidophoridae) has absolutely enormous styli (L) compared to typical morphology (R). Looks like a walrus!

Today I learned about molehoppers, another name for pygmy mole crickets in the genus Xya. Absolutely beautiful insects.

This is Xya nobile from the foothills of the Himalayas in Assam, India. It's ~5mm long. 👀
