Dr. Barry Alto, Associate Professor and Associate Center Director of the Florida Medical Entomology Lab, University of Florida in Vero Beach came to GMS to speak to our 6th graders about mosquito borne pathogens as part of our infectious agents' unit.

The All India Network Project (AINP) on Agricultural Acarology, Deptt. of Entomology, in collaboration with KVK, Nurmahal organize a field day on “Integrated Management of Mites on Vegetable Crops” at Nurmahal. About 70 farmers including farm women participate in the activity.

German Cockroaches are definitely not native to Germany, despite the name. Here's the entomology (pun intended) behind the name:

Orthoptera people, have you ever seen anything like this? The male subgenital plate of this cave cricket (Rhaphidophoridae) has absolutely enormous styli (L) compared to typical morphology (R). Looks like a walrus! #entomology #taxonomy

Today I learned about molehoppers, another name for pygmy mole crickets in the genus Xya. Absolutely beautiful insects.
