47 years ago today, @KoolDJHerc , threw the legendary 'Back To School Jam' in the function room of 1520 Sedgwick Ave in the South Bronx. ( August 11, 1973 ). Now recognized as the birth of Hip Hop.

My Hip Hop heroes are flawed but they’re not dead. They’re still alive to watch us carry on the Hip Hop mantle and continue the legacy they started.
