Our Saree Upcycle project is going strong at Pembury Centre in Hackney. Our participants, all Kundakala graduates, are taking their skills up one level and have started making high quality products. Here is work in progress on some make up pouches. Next up, laptop bags!

It's been a hectic week at Kundakala: we are so happy to welcome an additional 20 women into our fold via the 6-month Make and Mend programmes that have commenced in Camden and Hackney. Sorry to have disappointed the women who couldn't get a place - you're on our waiting list!

88 women have been through Kundakala programmes so far!

We began our activities in the summer of 2021 by self-funding a programme. Since then we have been backed by funders to support women to save money, reduce debt, and earn an income via tailoring skills gained with us.

Our 2023 Kundakala graduates return to the Pembury Community Centre in Hackney to take part in our saree upcycle project. Participants will hone their product making skills as they make innovative designs from sarees that have been donated to us.

What a great morning we had yesterday! Our first outing in the Borough of Camden was a huge success. It was heartening to see that we had more expressions of interest than we have places. Apologies again to the women who are now on our waiting list.

We were delighted to start a fresh batch of Kundakala graduates on our saree upcycle project thanks to @peabodyldn. We had a full house, including our saree donors, who were moved to see their late mum's sarees get a new life.
