Kate Bradbury πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ & Ed Phillips you were of course correct! Thank you!
I've had every year, so I'm used to their nest cell building, but I was observing her for over an hour & was confused because I saw no leaves, the white must have been a lot of white pollen!

Day 2 of with The Wildlife Trusts Kate Bradbury πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ were on my Rosa Rugosa - it never flowers but this is the best reason to keep it. They flew past the Madame Alfred Carriere and Scarborough Lass roses to get to this one so they must love those leaves!

This is how prepare their cocoons! They wrap the little ones in leaves between a cozy mud wall inside a hole. Next year, the young come out! They, like most native bees, are gentle with no stinger and are solitary. One pollinates more than a whole hive.

Meet Nico Boutiette, who works with our Earth Center! Nico has just placed a box of native leafcutter bee eggs to hatch with the warm weather. Leafcutter bees are important local pollinators that help plants and flowers reproduce! πŸπŸ’š
