#HMRC are out of control. The Treasury Committee have done nothing to question their actions or fact check any answers HMRC officials give to them. The #LoanCharge truly is a scandal & needs MPs to bring it to a close. The Tories have no appetite to do this it seems.

Astonishingly one firm claimed to “specialise in Contractor tax” despite no previous involvement.
That firm spuriously claimed to have a solution to the #loancharge that had a 65% chance of success which encouraged some ‘victims’ not to settle.

Settlement sought to take back 20% tax (on that 85%), plus 6 years interest at circa 4%
Instead WTT & LCAG helped increase the tax to 40% (double) of 85% under the #loancharge , plus 4 years interest at circa 7%
WTT charged you a £3,600 fee for it!

My wife receives the HMRC letters and has to open them. I know she has considered suicide...She has been devastated by this. I would be lying if I told you I hadn't considered it as well

PAM Ali fedupwithretrotax People who were charged £3.6k to not fully declare loans on their 2019 tax return are not impacted by s684, because there is this thing called the #loancharge
Plus WTT charge another fee on top of the joining fee, to deal with s684.
So false to claim that’s what fees were for!

I am portrayed by the government and HMRC as a cheat, even though I am the victim of miss-selling in a market that was, and still is, completely unregulated.
My mental health is currently very poor.

If HMRC halved the 2020 #loancharge settlement terms then that would bring us back to about the same as settlement under 2017 terms had one settled prior to 30/9/2020
