🕷Our Reception class had a 'bugtastic' time at their 'Ugly Bug Ball'. Dressed as their favourite insects, they had a blast hunting for bugs in our mini forest. They enjoyed a fantastic visit from Ranger Stu, who introduced them to some incredible minibeasts!🐞

Parents and children from EYFS had a fun time learning about minibeasts this m9rning at Stay and Play.

Today, some children wrote their own information books on minibeasts 📝🐞🐛🦟🕷️

Today the reception children made their very own bug hotels. They collected natural resources to make their hotels cosy, ready for the minibeasts to take up residence. 🐞🐛🦟🪲🐜🕷️

Minibeasts have invaded the Reception classroom this week. We have been looking for bugs using microscopes and binoculars and keeping tally charts of what we find. We have made bugs in the playdough area, and made large and small scale habitats for our bugs.

Heather Amgueddfa Learn is also a scientist based at the National Museum of Wales. She is an expert about minibeasts 🕷️🐞🐜🐝🦋🐞🪰. She told us all about minibeasts. First we had to look closely at some specimens and sort them into groups. We used magnifying glasses.

Year 1 enjoyed toasted marshmallows today then carried out a minibeast hunt. They were able to explain what a minibeast is and what common minibeasts need.

Bugs bugs everywhere! Reception went on a bug hunt earlier this week. They made tally charts of the minibeasts they found (luckily the weather was lovely then).

It’s been a day full of minibeasts in Reception, letting our butterflies free, after growing them from tiny caterpillars.
