Love this time of year when ploughing reveals little clues to historic land use. Looking southwest over the River Forth carseland to Ferryton where the Company worked the Cherry and Splint coals in the 19th century.

Boy miner hooks on rope a tub. Working on haulage a common first underground job. My dad, 14, worked in cold pit bottom loading and unloading. Trapped fingers, broken bones not unusual and occasional fatalities.
