First of all, Gavin Higgins’ EPIC Concerto Grosso for Brass Band (@NYBBGB) and Orchestra, followed by friend and inspiration Dani Howard’s fanfare, and concluding with my favourite symphony, Prokofiev 5.
Possibly the best NYO concert I’ve ever heard!
All the feels listening to Gavin Higgins incredible Concerto Grosso on BBC Radio 3 now with The National Youth Orchestra & The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain - I grew up in the Yorkshire brass band tradition too, sneaking in to rehearsals above a pub in Leeds as a skinny 13 yr old. His piece somehow captures that wonder & glory.
