It takes a villiage. Glaucoma staging confused me and I got it wrong on my first draft. Thanks to everyone who corrects me so we can all clear the confusion around these sometimes confusing topics.

I think this is called 'subchop' but it's my new favorite thing. One-handed half groove then horizontal chopping. Fast and extremely low CDEs.

Nobody likes “clip shows” but in my penultimate month of residency I wanted to look back on my favorite educational slides to put together. This vintage piece helped spark my interest in refractive surgery.

Ophthalmology Eponym of the Week: Can you identify this instrument? It's a Barraquer lens for checking intra-op IOP (for example, with ORA cases). The black ring is loose so the clear portion rests on the cornea.

Here's a quick review of some phaco settings. I personally prefer venturi systems but for peristaltic systems I like maximum vacuum and aspiration flow of about 45 for removing segments.

This is another favorite because I truly had no understanding of manignant glaucoma aka aqueous misdirection aka ciliary block aka vitreous block before making this. If you don’t understand something, force yourself to learn by teaching it.
