📢 Epilepsy-linked Focal Cortical Dysplasia is due to somatic mutations in mTOR pathway genes🧬. Our study reveals cellular senescence in mutated neurons & senolytic drug efficacy in reducing seizures in mice🧟‍♀️ DOI: 10.1038/s41593-024-01634-2.

In the male cohort no rapamycin is worse than control? But ONLY rapamycin is about as good as control? This is an anomaly.

Senolytic is ineffective while the SC seem to work. In the females it's reversed. Interesting if it's not noise.

📣 New collaborative paper out! We show in postoperative brain tissue from FCD patients that interictal activity originates from regions highly enriched in dysmorphic neurons. Targeting these cells with senolytics prevents seizures in an FCD mouse model.

Aubrey de Grey What is the end point of these studies how will they be translated into human clinical trials. Same treatments similar methodology on humans? Also fisetin is a better senolytic as per recent studies and human trials are about to conclude at mayo clinic as well seems better choice
