Tea Leaves (1909) by William McGregor Paxton (1869–1941). Two fashional women in Boston (US). Met Museum of Art. The seated woman seems to be engaging in a spot of tasseography (a word I don't get to use often enough).

Tasseography - the art of reading tea leaves as a form of divination. Pour a cup of tea without using a tea strainer, drink it and let the diviner study the patterns/shapes left at the bottom of the cup, interpreting them as prophecies of past, present & future.
