The low water levels at Medina and Canyon Lake are affecting members of both communities, such as business owners, homeowners and residents.

Canyon Lake reached its lowest point in recorded history in October 2023 at 889.61 ft-msl.

On Nov. 13, read more about how the severely low water levels are affecting the communities near Canyon and Medina Lake through my project, available on Wix.

Medina Lake’s water levels have been declining over time.

The lake brings tourism to the area, but the low water levels have affected many business owners’ ability to stay open.

New drought stats are out and I am re-upping what I said earlier this week...I am amazed at how I-35 seems to be the dividing line between the have's and the have not's.

With La Niña breaking down...the trend could improve this spring.

What does a month of almost no rain and scorching temperatures get you? This is the 4 week change in drought conditions. You can see Harold's footprint. But statewide, the drought is flexing.

And there is minimal relief in the short and medium range.

New drought stats are out and the trend is not our friend.

For DFW, every day in January has been above normal for temperatures. And no real rain in a month.

La Niña is flexing right now.

In the latest Water + Weather report, @TWDB's Dr. Mark Wentzel looks at March's rainfall and water storage data and previews the likely expansion of drought in West Texas and a contraction of drought in Central Texas and parts of the Panhandle.

Conditions can, and often do, vary widely across Texas. In the past week, drought expanded in south-central Texas and the northeast Panhandle. Meanwhile, heavy rains caused flooding in parts of East Texas. Bit.ly/WaterWeekly

Texas Drought: I've never seen Cayo del Grullo near Loyola Beach this dry before but I gotta admit that the pink-colored salt/algae looks pretty cool...

The latest map for conditions as of 4/16 shows some drought contraction in Central Tx but more expansion in South & West Tx. After 6 consecutive weeks of small increases, drought has now reached its greatest extent since mid-January. Bit.ly/WaterWeekly

DROUGHT UPDATE: Unfortunately, the rain from Tropical Storm Harold did not benefit TX as much as we would've liked. The newest drought monitor shows over 98% of the state is either in some level of drought or considered 'abnormally dry'.

Matt Lanza 🤌🏼 if Baytown thumper holds together, maybe a good light show northeast of Pearland tonight? Grateful we’ve received at least 4 in. of rain the past week but my lawn remains separated by at least an inch from our foundation. Likely to stay that way for?

This week's map largely unchanged from last week. Keep eye on central, south, and west Texas, however. Water supplies is those regions are strained.
