I am so lucky! Spent half my day in Diggle visiting maintenance Volunteers and Lock Keepers. It was my first time meeting some of the gang and it was an absolute pleasure. A great way to finish #VolunteersWeek2023 . Thanks again to our amazing #volunteers #volunteerbywater
Our Volunteer Boat Manager making sure WB Cheviot is tucked up for the night, after Volunteers completed 1/2 mile of intense offside vegetation clearance mostly without power tools at Great Bedwyn on the K&A. Volunteering with the Trust has so much variety! #VolunteerByWater
Fantastic morning with the CRT North West Volunteers at Stanley Flight learning what's involved operating the locks to enable safe passage for boat users πCanal & River Trust North West #VolunteerByWater

We returned with lots of plants, stain & even some tree stumps from fallen trees that have been cut & removed from the canal. #Littleborough towpath taskforce volunteers have done an amazing job transforming this space - thanks everyone! π

When the #RiverTrent flooded recently it left the facilities area at #Sawley locks covered in silt which mixed with the fallen leaves to make a right slippery mess. Some of our lovely lock keepers got together to clear it this week, making it safer for boaters. #VolunteerbyWater
What a great start to the week, over 40 metres of hedgerow layed by #Volunteers along the Huddersfield Narrow Canal West. Hedge laying creates an improved boundary & ideal habitat for #Wildlife .
What a team, well done & thank you! ππ #VolunteerByWater #Volunteering

And, just like that, another lock keeping season has come to an end. Sadly, with the mayhem left by the floods, we haven't been on duty for the final few days of October. We've lots to do over the coming months and look forward to seeing you all again in Spring. #VolunteerByWater
