A short ringing session this morning on the Causeway Coast provided the first Grasshopper Warblers & Sedge Warblers of the year in the nets, amongst a catch of 15 new birds. A site first Cuckoo was also present but not trapped

I was supposed to be looking for Marsh Tits and Wood Warblers, but got distracted by the many singing Red-breasted Flycatchers. I had 13 this morning alone. An arrival of Spotted Flycatchers, too, and lots of Collared Flycatchers.

Elmore Court rewilding area this morning, 4 Gadwall including a female with 6 ducklings, 2 Lapwings, a Grey Heron, a Cuckoo heard, a Buzzard, a Sedge Warbler, 2 Reed Warblers, 3 Lesser Whitethroats, 3 Whitethroats, 2 Reed Buntings, 8 Skylarks and 12 Linnets.

….and Marsh Marigold were colourful as were the newly emerged Banded Demoiselles. No sign of the grasshopper warblers recently reported from here but a nature fix achieved before the rigours of the working day to come
