Thanks everyone at this #ieeevr2024 workshop. shan-yuan was presenting on the challenges of bringing haptics into everyday interfaces (e.g. AR, VR and daily life) and got a best paper award for it! Congrats!

I was so glad to talk about my research at Industrial Design with Doga Dogan and meet cool folks and see lab spaces, thanks to Rong-Hao Liang's hosting. Howie advised me a lot when I started HCI research/took his Intro to HCI class back in Taiwan 😊

Presented my research at TU Eindhoven yesterday, alongside with shan-yuan! 🥳

shan-yuan is demo'ing Touch & Fold at the senaatsaal at #worldhaptics2023 come and try it. This allows your finger to feel pressure and textures in mixed reality and yet, have tou finger pad free to hold tools and manipulate objects! (Paper from CHI 21, and totally new demo!)

Blending virtual & physical is a key challenge in the next-gen of interactive systems.

Pedro Lopes, shan-yuan, and I have been working on the haptics aspect of this by engineering devices that render virtual touch yet keep the fingerpads/hands free.

Glaze analyzes your art, and generates a modified version (with barely visible changes). This 'cloaked' image disrupts AI mimicry process.

Last week was a wild ride! We had the pleasure of hearing a keynote by Ben Shneiderman (Ben Shneiderman) at UChicagoCS . Ben has a book coming out on Human-Centered AI, very timely topic. Lovely to have him over at our lab for demos & critical discussions, thanks Ben (& Chenhao Tan)!
