I was a bit confused when I first opened our NEW 'Top-level domains' widget in Ahrefs and saw a tab called 'Sponsored.'

Turns out that TLDs like .gov / .edu / .int / .post (and many others) are called sponsored TLDs.

Well... for each backlink that we store in our database Ahrefs has 72(!!!) unique datapoints that you can sort and filter your backlinks by.

We have things like:

- Referring page (search) TRAFFIC
- Referring domain (search) TRAFFIC
- Referring page

Ooops.. This 'trend' doesn't really look good 😬.

It almost feels as if whenever some website gets known on social media for it's SEO success, Google will push a few knobs and rein it in.
