Did you write this article in The Telegraph, Rachel Johnson ?

The mesh procedure referred to is no longer available in the UK. This is the case since July 2018, due to serious safety concerns.

Also, this surgery cannot be done in an outpatient clinic. At least not in the UK.

Thank you so much Tara Humphrey for raising awareness of the pelvic mesh issue in your highly successful podcast.

I hope your audience will enjoy the episode as much as I enjoyed our chat

Since then, Patient Safety Commissioner published the redress report, awaiting response from UK Gov.

This morning's launch in Parliament of my report into redress options for those harmed by pelvic mesh and valproate heard how women were deceived, kept in the dark, and fobbed off and let down by the health system - read the report at patientsafetycommissioner.org.uk

Delighted my evidence was helpful to the legal system to settle this claim, after good few years and only weeks before trial.

Once implemented, the NHS Litigation Reforms should improve the experience of people going through the labyrinthine process of litigation.

The TOPSY study is now published in one of The Lancet journals, and should change guidance.

The 1st trial of self-managing prolapse pessaries confirmed better safety and lower cost, while comparable success to standard care.

Proud of my contribution, i.e. designing the cake!

Do you offer the Manchester procedure?
Last week, I performed 3 modified Manchester procedures. Patient choice was validated by this recently published landmark study. The procedure is superior to the alternative in success & safety. I'm reminded of why I became a surgeon.

As surgeons, adopting a shared decision-making model with patients is crucial. We must take time to carefully outline the risks and benefits of all treatment options available, and support patients in choosing what is right for their personal situation.

This morning, in McCulloch, UK Supreme Court confirms Bolam as the test to determine if an alternative treatment is reasonable.

Despite Montgomery, Bolam remains pretty much alive and kicking, at least in the context of alternative treatment options.

Scottish urogynae wael agur “The mesh pause is based on the precautionary principle and I believe is also underpinned, at least partly, by the understanding that the device-related risks could not be adequately mitigated by improving surgical skills.”

A bit of a development on the use of surgical mesh in NZ. Ministry of Health says it is investigating a 'pause' to its use in some surgeries.
