The mesh procedure referred to is no longer available in the UK. This is the case since July 2018, due to serious safety concerns.

Also, this surgery cannot be done in an outpatient clinic. At least not in the UK.

This morning, in McCulloch, UK Supreme Court confirms Bolam as the test to determine if an alternative treatment is reasonable.

Despite Montgomery, Bolam remains pretty much alive and kicking, at least in the context of alternative treatment options.

A bit of a development on the use of surgical mesh in NZ. Ministry of Health says it is investigating a 'pause' to its use in some surgeries.
