The finance team took all the physical flyers away for EHU this afternoon... the petition has been set up by students who are amazingly shouting loudly while the tutors can't... nearly 200 signatures already... let's show them we stand by them

I'm sorry to hear of the death of Liz Yorke, once a colleague at Nottingham Poly. One of those academics in lesbian studies who couldn't get teaching jobs in the hostility of the late 1980s, Liz worked in student support services when we met. She was later a psychotherapist.

Apparently focussing a violent insult on the fact that your victim is black and a woman has nothing to do with race or gender.

Perhaps it's time for some people with humanities degrees, or just plain humanity, to take over.

A few years ago, Séan Richardson wrote to me: 'I'm in California at the Huntington in Christopher Isherwood's archive. I thought you would like to know that he kept a handful of clippings related to your book' (A History of Gay Literature).
