Love this hierarchy of Wellbeing from Zack Ferguson
What if in 2024 we could ensure that across NHS land as organisations we prioritised the stuff we can do
*Decent rest spaces
*Food 24/7
*Rotas planned around leave
*Safe team culture
It truly shouldn't be so difficult?

Cannot agree more with this hierarchy pyramid from Zack Ferguson !
Get the basics right - safe service, rotas, approve leave requests if given in time.

Don’t waste money on wellbeing strategies when you can’t even provide 24/7 food or parking!

Zack Ferguson If there were enough training posts to meet demand (and we were producing the required number of doctors via uni and immigration) do you still think there'd be space for them? Only then could you say they aren't replacing doctors

Zack Ferguson Could the PA role at your workplace be done by junior clinical fellows / SHOs etc?

There are 1000s of Drs without a training post currently

Zack Ferguson Susan Miller No, your pay is definitely not adequate for the years of training behind you or in front of you. Many of us support and appreciate you all. Good luck to you all, and I for one believe you deserve the full 35% you’re asking for.

Zack Ferguson What's their scope in your unit Zack? Undifferentiated/triaged pts? Procedures? What role are they fulfilling that's working well alongside the medical trainees? Do FYs/Core trainees feel the same?

Zack Ferguson I work with AMU PAs. I like them: nice, hardworking. But they're not qualified to be anywhere near a medical on call rota, undifferentiated pts, or supervising drs. They're not qualified, but it keeps happening and won't stop without defined scope or halting the experiment.

Zack Ferguson This is good to hear. If they are functioning as assistants to the doctors working with them and decreasing their workload this should be highlighted. If they are replacing doctors and seeing undifferentiated medical admissions with no real supervision that is very different

Zack Ferguson Unfortunately people see a them and us scenario, instead of supporting other workers rights to fight for what they are worth.
People moaning child care costs impact on all workers, doesn’t mean it’s right that it eats up any worker salary. Fight on! Good luck 🀞

Zack Ferguson Anyone that is complaining about striking drs because they have the same bills to pay, go on strike as well!

We should be supporting everyone that is fighting for a decent wage. We should be angry at those in power that have caused the stagnation of wages and rising living costs

Zack Ferguson Stop moaning about your salary, either leave or enjoy your job especially with all the training you have completed. You knew how much you would earn before you became a doctor, you could have decided to join a different profession if the salary didn’t match your expectations!!
