A bit of light lunchtime discussion led by Ervin Zsoter - the hydrological behaviour of JULES land surface model in a deep #groundwater basin (I really like the #maps )
The best part of the job! Congratulations to Drs Faith KiM Maureen Anyango, PhD and Ervin Zsoter!
What fantastic work advancing the science around the prediction of floods and their impacts.
Time for a toast at the SAGES conference poster session! Geography and Environmental Science @ UoR Water @ Reading ECMWF
Ervin Ervin Zsoter talking at #UEF2019 about the work done at ECMWF, Water @ Reading, Uni of Reading and Geographical Sciences, University of Bristol to support the humanitarian response to cyclones #Idai and #Kenneth using the Copernicus EMS #GloFAS , requested by DFID and partners in Mozambique FATHUM_NERC
GloFAS flood forecasts were provided to decision makers in real time for Cyclone Idai, says Ervin Zsoter at #UEF2019 . I'm excited to be working with the #GloFAS team ECMWF and Water @ Reading as part of my PhD on the predictability of flooding from TCs.
New paper by E. Zsoter Ervin Zsoter et al. explores potential benefits of using ensemble reforecasts to generate flood thresholds for improved global flood forecasting, increasing the confidence in forecasts for humanitarian and civil protection partners.
