A slight issue with the photo posted earlier from a 1928 book on EG? It looks as if the war memorial is just being built, which would be 1921/22. Are those vehicles consistent with that date?

On the subject of how long Lloyd's Bank has been at the junction of London Rd and EG High Street, Hills mentions it on that site in his History of EG published in 1906, so it has been there at least 118 years. Long may it stay there! Before Lloyds, the main Post Office was there.

A trip into town this morning, to visit one of our last remaining banks - the one that has been in the same location for about 120 years. Traffic chaos in London Road, caused by roadworks and lorries manoeuvring, but not a worker in sight. One or two other changes noted.

Water Update: South East Water report that further repairs will be completed in RH19 late tonight, to limit disruption. Water turn-off time to be advised later. 🚰
