Absolutely fantastic to see this 6-page article on botanical altitudinal records by Jim McIntosh in the latest publication of #BSBInews BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland. Amazing to see this newly-emerged Wood Horsetail side by side with its close relative Calamites, a group of extinct tree-like horsetails that formed swampy 'forests' here at Comrie Colliery 330m years ago!
Join Mining Landscapes Dr Katie Strang & BSBI Scotland to explore then and now!
π³ Wonderful to see Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh' Scottish Plant Recovery project funding from the #NatureRestorationFund , managed by NatureScot, helping to protect and grow disease resistant saplings from the Beauly Elm - believed to be Europe's oldest wych elm.
